CruiseCtrl+

CruiseCtrl+ is our optional premium subscription. The core CruiseCtrl app — profile, messaging, the Radar, Taps, Safe Meet, and more — is free and will always remain free. CruiseCtrl+ adds a set of extra features for users who want more from the app. This page explains what you get, how to subscribe, how billing works, and your rights as a consumer in the EU and UK.

1. What is CruiseCtrl+?

CruiseCtrl+ is an auto-renewing subscription available as a monthly or annual plan, purchased directly through the Apple App Store or Google Play. It unlocks a set of features on top of the free tier. There are no hidden fees, no pay-per-feature credits, and no difference in how your data is handled based on subscription status — everyone's privacy is treated equally.

2. What's included — Free vs CruiseCtrl+

Here's a breakdown of what each tier includes:

Free (always available to all users)

CruiseCtrl+ (subscription)

3. How to subscribe

  1. Open CruiseCtrl and go to Settings → CruiseCtrl+.
  2. You'll see the current pricing for monthly and annual plans, along with a breakdown of what's included.
  3. Tap Subscribe next to your preferred plan.
  4. Your device will prompt you to authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your store password. This confirms the purchase through your Apple or Google account.
  5. Once confirmed, your subscription activates immediately and CruiseCtrl+ features unlock within a few seconds. If they don't, see section 9 below.

Pricing is displayed in your local currency at the point of purchase, as set by the App Store or Google Play for your region.

4. How billing works

CruiseCtrl+ subscriptions are billed entirely through the Apple App Store (iOS/iPadOS) or Google Play (Android). This means:

5. Auto-renewal

CruiseCtrl+ renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) unless you cancel before the renewal date. This is standard for app subscriptions — you retain access to premium features until the end of the period you paid for, then the next period begins and you're charged again.

A few important things to know:

6. How to cancel

Cancelling stops your subscription from renewing at the end of the current paid period. You keep full CruiseCtrl+ access until that period ends. After it ends, your account reverts to the free tier.

On iPhone or iPad (iOS)

  1. Open the Settings app on your device (not the CruiseCtrl app).
  2. Tap your name at the top → Subscriptions.
  3. Find CruiseCtrl in the list and tap it.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

Alternatively, go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions in a browser.

On Android

  1. Open the Google Play app.
  2. Tap your profile picture (top right) → Payments & subscriptionsSubscriptions.
  3. Find CruiseCtrl in the list and tap it.
  4. Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.

Alternatively, go to play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions in a browser.

7. Your 14-day right of withdrawal (EU/EEA and UK)

As a consumer in the EU, EEA, or UK, you have the right to withdraw from a digital subscription within 14 calendar days of purchase without giving any reason. This is provided by the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and its national implementations.

However, when you subscribe to CruiseCtrl+ and immediately begin using the premium features, you are asked to acknowledge that you consent to the service commencing immediately and that you understand you may lose your right of withdrawal once the service is fully performed. In practice, this means:

For the full terms of our refund policy, including worked examples of proportionate refunds, see Refunds & Cancellation.

8. How to request a refund

Because billing is handled by Apple or Google, the fastest route to a refund is through the relevant store:

If you're having difficulty using the store's refund process, or if your request relates to your EU consumer rights and you want us to handle it directly, email support@cruisectrl.eu with:

We'll respond within 2 working days and either process the refund directly or coordinate with the store on your behalf.

9. CruiseCtrl+ not activating after payment

Occasionally there's a short delay between completing payment in the store and the premium features appearing in the app. If your subscription shows as active in the App Store or Google Play but CruiseCtrl+ features aren't unlocked:

  1. Go to Settings → CruiseCtrl+ → Restore Purchases. This prompts the app to re-check your subscription status with the store.
  2. Make sure you're logged into the same Apple ID or Google account that you used to make the purchase. If you have multiple accounts, this is the most common cause of the problem.
  3. Wait a few minutes and restart the app — store confirmation webhooks can occasionally be delayed by a few minutes.
  4. If none of these work after 30 minutes, email support@cruisectrl.eu with your store order ID and we'll investigate.

10. Price changes

If we change the price of CruiseCtrl+, we will:

In the EU and EEA, price change notifications for auto-renewing subscriptions may also come directly from Apple or Google, who are required to notify you under their own store policies.

11. Billing problems

If something has gone wrong with your billing — a duplicate charge, an unexpected renewal, or any other issue — here's what to do:

12. Gifting and family sharing

CruiseCtrl+ cannot currently be gifted to another user, and does not work with Apple Family Sharing or Google Play's family library for subscription sharing. Each CruiseCtrl account requires its own individual subscription. We may revisit this in future — if it's something you'd find useful, let us know via the in-app feedback button.

For full terms governing the subscription, cancellation, and your consumer rights, see our Terms of Service and Refunds & Cancellation policy.
